Living Water

Friday - October 29th

Scripture to Read Today: John 4:1-14

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,

but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.

Indeed, the water I give them will become in them

a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 4:13-14

Water makes up roughly two-thirds of the human body. So it's no surprise that we drink so much! A lack of water can impact our health much faster than a lack of food.

In John chapter four, Jesus speaks with a woman from Samaria concerning water. He talks about both healthy drinking water and living water. Freshwater was a valuable resource in ancient days, and it is still so in the Middle East today. It is necessary for everyone's survival.

Jesus claims that the water he provides is life-giving. It's eternal, life-giving, living water with which he fills us. That Samaritan woman at the well had a life of spiritual drought and deadness. She was thirsty. Jesus knew He could meet her most basic spiritual needs. So he offers her that Living Water!

Many Old Testament Scriptures talk of a longing for God as if it were a thirst for a refreshing drink. God is known as the living spring and the fountain of life. Jesus directly links Living Water with eternal life. When we know Jesus as Savior, we will never thirst again because He, and only He, satisfies our deepest spiritual thirst.

Without access to living water, no fruitful faith journey is possible. Only Jesus can get us out of the spiritual wasteland of our lives. Only Jesus can satisfy our insatiable desire for God. Only one Lord and Savior is capable of giving us this incredible gift that fulfills our deepest desires. Only Jesus provides the fresh, living water each of us needs.

If you have not received Jesus as your Savior, you can do that right now. He will satisfy that thirst that seems never goes away.

If you have not received Jesus as your Savior, stop, and realize Jesus loves you and will meet your deepest thirst. Pray and thank Him for sending His Son to come and give you the living water of eternal life!

Nothing can satisfy our deepest needs - other than Jesus Himself!
