Thankful That God's Got This!

Day 4: Attitude of Gratitude
Scripture to Read Today: Isaiah 41:10-13
For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13

When we go through challenges in our personal lives, someone holding our hand or putting their arm around our shoulders can bring the greatest comfort. That human touch means everything. When we connect like that, we experience a sense that that person is with us in the suffering. They understand our pain. They get it when it comes to our fears. The bond of another human being making a physical connection with us suggests we are not and will not be alone. Often when a parent reassuringly holds the hand of a frightened child, that strong, comforting hand of the parent shouts, "I've got this. No need to fear!"
One of my favorite passages to turn to when uncertainty, fear, and a lack of control overwhelm me personally is Isaiah 41:13. God speaks to us in this verse to reassure, encourage, and strengthen us. "For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." He reminds us that He is our God. He says that He initiates taking our hand. The Lord then commands us not to fear and promises that He Himself will help us.
What beautiful imagery. In our seasons of uncertainty, in times when Satan convinces us that everything is bleak, and in times when we feel increasingly weak, God shows up. He reminds us we have nothing to fear. God will help. The beautiful imagery of God reaching out enveloping our hands in His conveys the depth of his love, care, and protection for His children.
Maybe you are going through something personally right now. Thank God for the promise that He will clasp your hand tightly through whatever you face. God's got this!
Maybe the election itself has left you defeated, worried, or scared; God's got this!
All of us can be grateful for our God, who promises to hold our hand through the ups and downs of life. As our nation navigates its way forward, we as God's people should not be the most panicked. We should not be the most discouraged. We should be the ones in the middle of all the cultural turmoil and political division who say our God has this. Because He does!
Express your gratitude to God today. Thank Him that He is in control of the path of our personal lives. Thank God that He is in control of the course of our nation.
No matter how you feel today, God's got this! Hold tightly to His hand! Thank Him for His promise to help you!
